This has been an amazing weekend so far and has shown me how valuable others are in our own lives, ministries, and leadership!!
The morning started with breakfast with a local Children’s Pastor (Bill Gunter) whom I have become best friends with over our years of serving today in Awana regionally. Our conversation was great as we discussed the future of children’s ministry, our journey on getting in better shape, our families, and other topics.
Then I had the chance to visit a sale to benefit our local Awana Missionaries (Lanty and Tammie Moss). I walked away with not only some great things for my family BUT an appropriate children’s devotional for our church service this weekend as well.
One of the best things was how much Pastor Bill has given to help out as we began FrontRowKidMin. He has supported us by developing our hosting server for the website, offering advice and guidance in designing it, and providing other things as we kicked off this new venture. He did not have to do any of this but he desires what I believe most of us want, to see the Church be united and accomplish our mission of seeing disciples of Jesus Christ being made!
So many of us think we have to do everything, we feel like we need to control everything, we feel like if we ask for help – it shows us weak or incompetent, or whatever our reason is for going at it alone.
As I have grown in my leadership and spiritual maturity, it has become apparent that others have so much to offer if I would have only asked. Some of my most outstanding achievements, ideas, ministry gains, and leadership growth came out of asking others for their input or suggestions.
So, take a step of faith and make that big ask on your next ministry item and see how God uses that opportunity to make you a better leader, and your ministry exceptional!
